AQAP fires rocket at US Embassy in Sanaa, Yemen – no casualties

Al Qaeda of the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP) has claimed responsibility for a rocket attack on US Embassy in Sanaa, Yemen foxnews.com – some guards have been injured and a vehicle has been damaged but there are no casualties.
This attack appears to be a method for the al-Qaeda splinter group to assert its dominance in the region. The rocket was fired from the militants’ vehicle using a M72 light anti-tank weapon before they drove away.
Even though no U.S. personnel or Embassy buildings were hit, a nearby truck with Yemeni special security forces was hit, and guards were injured and, in all probability, a barricade blocking the Embassy had absorbed most of the blast.
The group has indicated that the attack was in retaliation to a drone strike in which two al-Qaeda militants in the northern al Jawf province are believed to have been killed.
