Slavery in 21st century Britain – eight ‘slaves’ rescued from a caravan site in Bedfordshire

It is a surprise that in the 21st century, slavery exists in Britain news.sky.com – reports indicate that four people of Gypsy Lane have been arrested after eight "slaves" were rescued during a raid on a caravan site in Bedfordshire.
The alleged victims or slaves were seven men aged between 20 and 46, and a 17-year-old boy – they had been kept locked up at the Greenacres site near Leighton Buzzard. Initial investigations by the police tend to suggest that some of the victims had been held there for "many years" and are believed to be in a "poor state of physical health".
The police have shifted some of them for medical and psychological treatment to an undisclosed location. The four residents of the Gipsy Lane site, two men and two women, have been arrested under the Coroners and Justice Act 2009.
Incidentally, a team of some 65 officers, including a helicopter, firearms and dog unit, had been involved in the dawn raid which came after a lengthy investigation into reports that a number of people were being held as "modern slaves". It may be recalled that in 2011, 24 "slaves" had been found at the site after a police raid and, at the time, four people had been convicted.
