Two dozen illegal African immigrants arrive at Dover in refrigerated lorry

A total of two dozen illegal immigrants from Africa landed up on a refrigerated lorry in Whitfield near Dover in Kent – they had been frantically banging on the sides of the lorry, in order to draw attention and a mechanic who was present forced open the refrigerated yogurt truck to free them dailymail.co.uk.
They were gasping for breath and the mechanic thought they were dying.
All of the immigrants were young male and female Eritrean nationals aged between 18 and 20, and it is presumed that they must have been concealed in the trailer for hours before being released.
The driver was a Hungarian and the lorry had travelled on a cross-Channel ferry from France to Dover. The Kent police have taken the immigrants away.
Such inhuman methods of transportation of illegal immigrants is not new because, just a couple of days earlier, six illegal immigrants were found in the back of a grain lorry in Kent and the week before that, a suspected illegal immigrant was discovered clinging to the bottom of a caravan as it drove from Calais to a suburban road in Kent.
It is believed that the individual in his late teens, had tied himself to the chassis of the vehicle before it entered the Channel Tunnel. He emerged after the two-hour journey.
