Three of a Muslim family shot dead in North Carolina – was it a hate crime?

#hatecrime #chapelhillshooting #northcarolina It is a strange coincidence that three members of a Muslim family, all were students of a college in North Carolina were shot dead by their neighbor at a quiet apartment complex in Chapel Hill as reported in news.sky.com dated 11 February 2015 – was it a hate crime or did it result from a parking dispute?
The gunman has been charged with the triple homicide and police feel that it could have been motivated by a parking dispute. But the family members believe it was a hate crime because the victims were Muslims.
The police chief of Chapel Hill has vowed to "exhaust every lead" to investigate if it was a hate crime since all the victims were Muslims.
Incidentally, on his Facebook page, the 36-year-old suspect has described himself as an atheist and had made posts condemning Christianity, Mormonism and Islam. However, his wife says that the shooting had "nothing to do with religion or the victims' faith".
The father of one of the victims feels that it was a hate crime because the shooting was execution style with a bullet in every head.
