60-year-old wife gets four years jail for trying to ‘boil’ her 65-year-old husband

It is difficult to digest but a 60-year-old woman has been put in jail for four years for trying to ‘boil’ her 65-year-old husband as reported in news.sky.com dated 24 March 2015.
The woman is 60-year-old and a former special constable and she poured scalding water over her husband, leaving him with first and second degree burns to his body. The incident took place in their bungalow in Peterborough last April. The reason was that he told her he wanted a divorce.
The man, a retired BT manager, had suffered blistering to 14% of his body – the blistering stretched from his scalp to his lower back, and there are fears that some of the scars may never fade. It was not the first time that she tried to cause bodily harm to him - three weeks before the incident she had, apparently, thrown tea over him as he slept.
It seems their marriage was on the rocks. It had become strained apart from difficulties concerning money, the conduct of the woman and her unrealistic expectation of what he could provide. Incidentally, the two of them had met through ballroom dancing after the death in 2008 of the man’s first wife of more than 30 years.
