Watery grave for 400 passengers of capsized cruise boat in Yangtze River

Eastern Star, a cruise boat with 456 people on board aged from between three to over 80, overturned, capsized and sank in the Yangtze and 400 of the passengers are missing, presumed dead. It seems the freak accident occurred due to a tornado in the region.
This has been reported in zeenews.com dated 3 June 2015.
The cruise boat is owned by the Chongqing Eastern Shipping Corporation had the capacity to carry more than 500 people and was heading to the southwestern city of Chongqing from Nanjing, capital of Jiangsu province.
It capsized and sank in the Jianli section of the Yangtze. The company runs tours along the Three Gorges section of the Yangtze and the passengers had booked their trips through a Shanghai-based travel agency.
The captain and the chief engineer, who were among the few to be rescued, have been detained by police for questioning. Preliminary investigation has revealed that the ship was not overloaded and had enough life vests for its passengers.
Since many of the dead were elderly Chinese tourists, Premier Li Keqiang wants a transparent investigation. (Image courtesy wikimediacommons.org)
