Why cry over killing of a lion by an American dentist when Americans kill more than 380 lions every year in Africa

#cecilthelion #walterpalmer #trophyhunters It is difficult to understand why there is such an outcry over the killing of a lion in Africa by an American dentist when American tourists are known to have killed more than 380 lions in Africa every year, as revealed by two conservation charities.
As per estimates of the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN), tourists in search of a trophy kill 600 of the big beasts annually. And, when this is added to a report by the International Fund for Animal Welfare it is found that that more than 380 lions are killed every year by American nationals. The figures are based on data of International Fund for Animal Welfare which found that between 1999 and 2008 Americans brought home lion trophies amounting to 64 per cent of kills they had made.
This has been reported in dailymail.co.uk dated 30 July 2015.
There are nearly 30,000 lions left in Africa and around two per cent of their entire population is being killed legally by hunters every year. But, the slaughter of Zimbabwe's popular lion Cecil by Minnesota dentist Dr Walter Palmer has caused outrage all over the world.
Incidentally, he belongs to the hunting group Safari Club International which hosts an online record book where hunters can log their kills of lions and other big game and see how they measure up with others.
