Cable car kills seven tourists in Gulmarg

At least seven people have been killed after they fell from a cable car because of strong winds in the popular mountain resort town of Gulmarg. It seems the supporting wires of the cable car were hit by an uprooted pine tree that led to the tragedy.
This is reported in cnn.com dated 26 June 2017.
The Gulmarg cable car is one of the highest in Asia and reaches a height of 1,312 feet (400 meters) at its peak. Gulmarg is a world famous ski resort and summer is peak tourist season in this spot which is located in the Himalayan mountains. Gulmarg attracts nearly half a million people annually.
The deceased included a young New Delhi couple and their two children apart from three local tour guides. Two others were injured and taken to a nearby hospital. As a result of this accident, more than 70 passengers were stranded in the cars after operations were suspended.
