Jewellry store robbery in London – shopkeepers put up a fight but robbers flee with 15-Kg of gold

It was a gang of six raiders on a smash and grab mission and they arrived on mopeds and armed with knives and hammers – their target was The Jeweller, in Kingsbury, north London. However, local shopkeepers put up a spirited fight to chase away the raiders’ but they decamped with £20,000 worth of gold.
This has been reported in dailymail.co.uk dated 8 September 2015.
As revealed by footage captured by an onlooker, the staff inside the jewelry shop tried to defend themselves with baseball bats and the customers fled. But, around 40 fellow shopkeepers and members of the community gathered to defend the shop.
One of them man threw a meat cleaver at the robbers, and others launched shopping trolleys, and pallets as they chased the gang away along the Kingsbury Road. One of the robbers appears to lose balance and is kicked off the moped by one of the shopkeepers. All of them are believed to be from nearby Iraqi-run businesses.
The rest of the gang fled, scattering gold as they went, which was then picked up the rest of the businessmen and returned to the owners of The Jeweller. However, at least 15-Kg of gold jewellery was stolen from the cabinets in the raid.

Foolish robbers caught in London - they wore burqas but did not walk like women!!

It was a case of a couple of foolish robbers in London who disguised themselves as women by wearing burkas to raid a pawnbrokers in Atlantic Road, Brixton but were caught after passers-by noticed they 'did not walk like women'.
This has been reported in dailymail.co.uk dated 28 August 2015.
One of them was armed with a fake gun and he struck as the staff were preparing to open the shop. They then forced one woman to open a security room safe and stole jewelry and cash in various currencies worth £64,000. However, members of the public who saw them in the traditional full-length Islamic garments, realized that they were fakes - their manly gait gave them away.
The incident happened in May and they have been sentenced for a total of 20 years at Inner London Crown Court. A judge had described the robbery in May as 'professional'.
Michael Lindo, a football coach, had 19 previous convictions for robbery or attempted robbery. Two of these involved firearms. He was jailed for 11 years. His partner Aaron Dumetz was a trainee carpenter and he was jailed for 9 years. Both of them hailed from Lambeth and admitted to robbery and possession of an imitation firearm with intent.

Terrorism a family affair in London – 5 of a family arrested by counter-terror police

From the looks of it, terrorism has become a family affair in London – counter terror police have arrested five members of a single family on suspicion of terror offences. The incident is from east London and those arrested include three teenage girls. Those arrested are a man and a woman in their 50s and two girls aged 16 and 17, and a woman aged 19. Incidentally, the youngest girl was first arrested last month, when she was just 15 – that made her the youngest UK female terror suspect ever.
This has been reported in dailymail.co.uk dated 12 August 2015.
All five family members are currently being questioned by officers at a London police station after being arrested on suspicion of being in possession of information likely to be useful to a person committing or preparing an act of terrorism.
A large number of Britons have been arrested on suspicion of terror offences in the past few months following incidents of young men and women travelling to Syria to fight for ISIS. Only last month, a 15-year-old boy from Blackburn, Lancashire had pleaded guilty to encouraging Australian jihadists to murder soldiers during Anzac Day celebrations.

Roof of London double decker bus ripped off under 12-ft high rail bridge

The roof of a double decker bus in London was ripped off when it struck a 12ft-high railway bridge on Portland Road in South Norwood. Seven people are believed to have been injured in the accident as reported in dailymail.co.uk dated 20 July 2015.
Fortunately, no one was seriously hurt in the smash that happened in the evening. Out of the seven injured persons, four were shifted to Croydon University Hospital including three patients who had minor injuries.
The Route 197 bus was going to Peckham and it does not usually pass the bridge on its route, obviously, it had taken a diversion at the time and the driver may not have been aware of the risks involved.
The bus was operated by Arriva and the collision with a bridge occurred at the junction of Portland Road and Clifford Road.

Bank robber hired a cab, asked the driver to wait, entered the bank, and robbed £3,000 at knifepoint

It was a bank robbery with a difference – the bank robber hurriedly prepared his heist while sitting in a taxi on the way to the bank. He asked the driver to wait while he went inside and robbed £3,000 from the cashier at knifepoint. Then he used the same cab as his getaway vehicle.
This has been reported in dailymail.co.uk dated 29 March 2015.
The man has been identified as a 24-year-old of no fixed abode. He had boarded a taxi from a McDonald's in Milton Keynes to a NatWest branch in Bletchley, four miles away, on January 12. Once there, he asked the driver to wait, and went into the bank. Once there he handed a note he had scribbled in the back of the taxi to the cashier. It said – ‘remain calm, stay silent, do not cause a panic. I have a knife and I will take hostages if I have to. This is not a joke.'
Well – the man was wearing a smart suit at the time of the robbery and did not look like a bank robber. The cashier gave him £3,379 but also activated the alarm. He even asked the robber if he wanted the money in an envelope.
Anyway, the robber ran back to the taxi and fled to the Channel Islands where the police found him and brought him back to England. The bank robber has been jailed for 21-months.

Jaguar car loaded to the brim with heroin valued at £37.2m seized in London

It was indeed a novel method of smuggling heroin into Britain news.sky.com. It was in a Jaguar that had been shipped to the UK from Pakistan – the car was due to be delivered to a repairer in north London. However, one of the suspects directed the delivery driver to take it to a garage in Dagenham instead.
Investigators from the NCA had got an inkling of what was happening and had kept a watch as the car arrived during the early hours of 7 December. The two suspects had left the scene but were arrested later they drove through Luton. The Jaguar was seized by police who visited the garage forecourt.
The two men have now been jailed over a plot to import heroin worth £37.2m in a specially adapted car.
As reported, the Specialist Border Force search officers discovered 316 packages of heroin with a total weight of 230-Kg that had been stuffed into the bumpers, wheel arches, dashboard, central console, spare wheel compartment, engine and back seats of the Jaguar.
It has been revealed that the drugs were concealed in virtually every spare bit of space – in fact, crucial parts of the vehicle, like electrics, had been removed to create more space.
