Saudi-led airstrike in residential area of Yemen have killed at least 120

A Saudi-led coalition airstrike in a residential area in a quiet Red Sea town in Yemen, has left at least 120 dead – it is believed to be the deadliest strike against civilians since the beginning of offensive in March. The airstrikes hit workers' housing for a power plant in Mokha and flattened some of the buildings to the ground. There was also a fire in the area and many of the corpses were charred beyond recognition. Most of them were of children, women and elderly people.

Subsequent to the airstrike, the coalition announced that it would start a five-day humanitarian pause.
Many of the workers had with them families who had come to visit for the Eid al-Fitr holiday at the end of the holy month of Ramadan. The population of Mokha is mostly fisherman and it had a reputation as one of the safest places in the country embroiled in war.
Rights groups like Human Rights Watch and Amnesty International have already expressed concern that the Saudi-led coalition is violating laws of war and is not doing enough to prevent or minimize civilian casualties.

It was one of the deadliest attacks carried out by the militants ever since they overran large parts of the country.
The power of the blast demolished several buildings in Khan Bani Saad located about 30-Km northeast of Baghdad. The victims were people who were celebrating the end of the Muslim fasting month of Ramadan. The body pats are scattered all over the place and there are fears that the toll could rise.

White House has condemned this attack and has said that it remains steadfast in its commitment to work with Prime Minister (Haider) al-Abadi and other partners in Iraq and the international community to put an end to the depravity of ISIL.
The Diyala provincial government has declared three days' mourning and has issued orders for all parks and entertainment places to close for the rest of the Eid al-Fitr holiday to pre-empt any further attacks.
Islamic State has revealed that the attack was to avenge the killing of Sunni Muslims in the northern Iraqi town of Hawija, and has added that the suicide car bomber was carrying around three tonnes of explosives.

The venue of the attack was near a crowded mosque in a bustling market in Maiduguri. The people were from the Baga Road fish market and were praying during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.
Maiduguri is the largest city of northeast Nigeria and is considered to be the birthplace of Boko Haram, the Islamic extremist group.

It is feared that the two girl suicide bombers had been captives of the Boko Haram terror group who forced them to blow themselves up. This was the fourth suicide bombing in Maiduguri over the past three weeks.
As explained by a military bomb disposal expert, most of the bombs carried by girls and women are installed with remote detonation devices which means the carrier cannot control the explosion.
It may be recalled that Boko Haram has sworn allegiance to ISIS in March and has kidnapped thousands of girls and women over the past few years. The increase in the number of females carrying out suicide bomb attacks on behalf of the militants would make one wonder whether these innocent captives are being forced to become suicide bombers and blow themselves up.

Chinese state media have confirmed death of fifty people in violence in Xinjiang – as per the police, it was a "serious terrorist attack" bbc.com. The breakup of the dead is - 40 "rioters", six civilians and four police officers.
Violence has been escalating in Xinjiang in recent months in the far western region of China which is home to the Muslim Uighur minority group and tensions exist between the Uighur community and the Han Chinese.
As reported in the regional government's news portal, Tianshan, the blasts occurred at two police stations, an outdoor market and a shop entrance and the "rioters" either blew themselves up or were shot dead by police. At least fifty-four civilians were injured and two "rioters" were captured.
It may be recalled that in July, 96 people died in Xinjiang's Yarkant. This had been described by the state media as a "terror attack" but activists say police opened fire on people who were protesting against a Ramadan crackdown on Muslims.
