Twyman would leave on Jan. 20 and halt in Italy before heading to Israel from where he would cross over the northern border shared with Syria and end up in a small Druze village. That village, Majdal Shams, is occupied by Israel and, Twyman has contacts there who would be trying to set up a venue in ISIS-controlled territory - his show is set for Jan. 31.
James Twyman, the author and self-styled “Peace Troubadour”, has put traditional prayers from various faiths to song. Incidentally, he is not new to such activities. He had performed in Baghdad in the late 1990s after Operation Desert Storm, in Bosnia and Croatia during the Balkan War in 1995 and has even performed earlier in Syria to spread his message of peace through song.
