Group of 70 squatters in Kuala Lumpur International Airport undetected for a month

At a time when the whole world is worried about rise in terrorist activities, the discovery of 70 squatters staying undetected in the Kuala Lumpur International Airport for over a month raises genuine concerns with regard to the state of security preparedness in an international airport.
The squatters were Turkish nationals and have, now, been detained by police in Malaysia after they had spent more than a month living inside the country’s largest airport. The squatters included children as young as six months and had remained undetected for so long at Kuala Lumpur International Airport’s viewing gallery. It seems no one noticed the group because they were thought to be passengers in transit.
As per reports, they slept on cloth on the floor and bathed and changed in the toilets and, such scenes are not new – in fact, these things are routine sights. They had money with them and the viewing gallery is a very big place complete with toilets, prayer rooms and shops.
The group included 21 children and 18 women, and the oldest member of the group is 60-years-old.
