More than one million refugees have entered Europe during 2015

A staggering one million refugees mostly from Syria and Middle East countries have entered Europe during 2015 as indicated by the International Organization for Migration. This figure passed a symbolic milestone amid the fallout of war, poverty and persecution in Africa and the Middle East.

The Geneva-based 162-country intergovernmental organization has said that the million mark has already crossed and it marks more than a four-fold increase from last year.
As per figures made available, IOM has indicated that ore than 820,000 crossed into Greece from Turkey, including more than 455,000 from Syria and over 186,000 from Afghanistan. Nearly 3,700 others died trying to cross the Mediterranean.
The response of Germany and Sweden have been most welcoming and accommodating, while some less-wealthy eastern European countries have erected border fences in order to stem the flow of refugees. Germany has seen around 1 million migrants arrive this year - that figure includes refugees who have arrived from Balkan countries earlier in 2015.

The problem of influx of Syrian refugees into Europe has become a major issue for Europe and, there are indications that Britain could authorize airstrikes in Syria within weeks in order to take on the ISIS militants and stem the flow. Prime Minister David Cameron, Chancellor George Osborne, Defense Secretary Michael Fallon and Foreign Secretary Philip Hammond have apparently agreed that there is a 'strong case' for action in Syria and in neighboring Iraq.

However, such an action would needed the approval of the Commons and dozens of Tory MPs could oppose the plan. In that case, David Cameron would have to rely on the support of Labour MPs. SNP leader Nicola Sturgeon has signaled that she could extend support to the bombing raids as part of a long-term plan to end the bloody conflict in Syria.
It may be recalled that David Cameron had tried as far back as 2013 to authorize strikes but was humiliated when Tory rebels joined with Labour to vote down a plan to launch missile strikes against the Assad regime. As a result, the PM had to retreat and it damaged relations with US President Barack Obama who had to go it alone in sending jets into Syrian airspace.
The situation is now different and the public outrage at the refugee crisis fueled by the rise of ISIS has put the issue back on the table and everyone wants positive action.

The U.N. refugee agency has indicated that some 70,000 Syrians have crossed into Turkey in the past 24 hours, and that it was preparing for the arrival of hundreds of thousands more foxnews.com .These Syrian refugees are mostly ethnic Kurds and they are desperate to reach Turkey in order to escape the advance of religious extremists that are barreling across Syria.
The number of refugees seeking shelter in Turkey from the Islamic State group's advance across northeastern Syria has reportedly hit 100,000, as clashes broke out on the border between Turkish security guards and Kurds.
As per information furnished by the head of Turkey's AFAD disaster management agency, Fuat Oktay, the figure relates to Syrians who are escaping from the area near the Syrian border town of Kobani, where fighting is currently raging between IS and Kurdish fighters.
The Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights has revealed that the Islamic State group has taken control of 64 villages in northeastern Syria since the fighting began there and the fate of 800 Kurds from these villages is unknown. It seems the Islamic State group have executed 11 civilians, including two boys.
