RAF readies to strike ISIS in Syria to check flow of refugees into Europe

The problem of influx of Syrian refugees into Europe has become a major issue for Europe and, there are indications that Britain could authorize airstrikes in Syria within weeks in order to take on the ISIS militants and stem the flow. Prime Minister David Cameron, Chancellor George Osborne, Defense Secretary Michael Fallon and Foreign Secretary Philip Hammond have apparently agreed that there is a 'strong case' for action in Syria and in neighboring Iraq.

However, such an action would needed the approval of the Commons and dozens of Tory MPs could oppose the plan. In that case, David Cameron would have to rely on the support of Labour MPs. SNP leader Nicola Sturgeon has signaled that she could extend support to the bombing raids as part of a long-term plan to end the bloody conflict in Syria.
It may be recalled that David Cameron had tried as far back as 2013 to authorize strikes but was humiliated when Tory rebels joined with Labour to vote down a plan to launch missile strikes against the Assad regime. As a result, the PM had to retreat and it damaged relations with US President Barack Obama who had to go it alone in sending jets into Syrian airspace.
The situation is now different and the public outrage at the refugee crisis fueled by the rise of ISIS has put the issue back on the table and everyone wants positive action.

He was captured by ISIS in December following the crash of his F-16 fighter aircraft in Syria.
King Abdullah II was briefed on the attacks by the armed forces chief of staff – the attacks were carried out by the Jordanian Air Force eagles. It seems the aircrafts struck ISIS training camps apart from their weapons and ammunition stores.
Location of the targets have not been disclosed but, as per information, the targets were destroyed and the aircraft were safe, they have returned to base safely.
These news have come even as people were killed when rebels unleashed rocket fire on Damascus and the forces of President Bashar al-Assad retaliated.
King Abdullah II cut short his US visit and returned to Amman after the video of Kassasbeh's killing emerged. Later, he visited the family of the slain airman to pay his condolences.
The military of Jordan has vowed to not only destroy the ISIS but also ‘kill the evil in its own place’ and punish them for perpetrating the heinous act of burning the pilot alive.
The situation in Syria is a matter of concern for the world. In a recent spate of attacks, at least 66 people, including 12 children, were killed by regime air strikes and shelling on rebel areas around Damascus as revealed by the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights. The assault took place on the Eastern Ghouta region and occurred when the rebels fired more than 100 rockets at the city, killing 10 people including a child.
Incidentally, Jordan has been carrying out raids on a regular basis as a part of the US-led campaign against the ISIS Sunni extremist group and over 200,000 people have lost their lives ever since anti-government protests erupted in Syria in early 2011. There is destruction and death all over the country and, with the escalation of a multi-sided civil war, the jihadists got an opportunity to enter and create mayhem.

ISIS militants execute 70 Syrian Army officers in Idlib

ISIS militants slaughtered at least 70 Syrian Army officers in Idlib and Syria would have ended up by losing its second city to the jihadists of ISIS and Jabhat al-Nusra timesofindia.indiatimes.com.

It seems hundreds of ISIS fighters stormed into the provincial capital, and captured the newly installed governor's office and then began to behead Syrian army officers. Reports indicate that by the time government troops recaptured the building, at least 70 soldiers had been executed. Many of them were senior officers and, as a result, one of the oldest cities in Syria was in utter chaos.
The officers were literally slaughtered before the army could declare Idlib saved.

Incidentally, the eastern city of Raqqa has been in the hands of ISIS for months, but Idlib was more strategically placed between Aleppo and the coastal city of Latakia — both of these are still held by President Bashar al-Assad's regime and the fall of Idlib would have been a disastrous for the government.

10,000 to 15,000 US boots on the ground in Iraq can bring stability

NATO Commander retired Admiral James Stavridis feels that US President Barack Obama should send at least 10,000 American ground troops to Iraq to turn the tide of the war on the ISIS terror army dailymail.co.uk.

The former NATO commander insisted that the reality on the ground 'is not good news, but we're going to need to put U.S. boots on the ground there.' His estimate is that it need not be of the order of 150,000 like at peak in Iraq, but probably 10,000.
They would carry out the advising, training and mentoring thereby making the Iraqi security forces effective and draw the (Kurdish) Peshmerga into the game.
The strategy proposed by Stavridis is to go in for a three-pronged attack – pin the ISIS militants between the Pehmerga in the north, Iraqi security in the south, (and) the US bombing in the west. If that happens, there is still a chance to turn the tide.

Incidentally, a poll conducted by NBC News/Wall Street Journal and released in late September indicate that 72 per cent of Americans think Obama will have to change his mind on the question of greater involvement in Iraq.

Anti-ISIS coalition frustrated – unable to control the militants

The fight against the ISIS is gradually taking the shape of a World War nzherald.co.nz – with as many as 22 countries joining the fight. That is what is seen from a summit of military commanders from the US-led coalition against the Islamic State.

The countries are Australia, Bahrain, Belgium, Britain, Canada, Denmark, Egypt, France, Germany, Iraq, Italy, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Spain, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates and the United States.

They have in Washington with US President Barack Obama at Andrews Air Force Base outside the US capital to discuss ways to halt the jihadist group's relentless advance in Iraq and Syria. Tis has been confirmed by the White House.
The discussion was to evolve a common vision on the counter-ISIL campaign, challenges and the way ahead.

ISIS militants do not want to die at hands of female PKK warriors

ISIS militants have instilled fear in the minds of the whole world by their vicious villainous methods but, they also have their Achilles Heel – they do not want to die at the hands of female PKK warriors because in that case, they cannot go to Heaven foxnews.com.
These women are the battle-hardened women who are fighting alongside Kurdistan's rugged Peshmerga and, in the course of their fights, they have struck fear into the hearts of Islamic State fighters. Many of these IS militants believe that getting killed by a female will debar them from entry into Heaven.
The women are fighters from the Kurdistan Workers' Party, also known as the PKK and, in their opinion, they want to eliminate the bloodthirsty marauders who have beheaded Christians, raped women and sold females into slavery across a treacherous swath of Iraq and Syria.
As one of these female guerrilla fighter from Turkey has explained – the IS militants go and kill and do bad things in the name of Islam … they have captured a lot of women and are selling them in Syria for $100 … they rape women and behead them in the name of Islam.
The PKK, the leftist Kurdish group, has been classified as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S. and NATO but, in spite of that, these women have flocked to the front lines in the all-out effort to retake Iraqi cities and towns from the Islamic State.
However, the PKK is not getting any support from the Iraqi government because it is still designated as a terrorist organization by the U.S. and NATO.

Iraqi soldier plays dead to survive execution by ISIS militants and escapes wearing civilian clothes

A young 23-year-old Iraqi soldier played dead to escape mass execution by ISIS militants in Tikrit. The militants rounded up nearly 770 soldiers from various locations in Tikrit and carried out the executions in the month of June nzherald.co.nz.
This soldier pretended to be dead and escaped. Later, he donned civilian clothes and managed to reach the border where he was picked up on 12 June with thousands of other men at 11am as they tried to flee along the main road from a military base.
He had been asked to wear civilian clothes to try to avoid detection by ISIS fighters. This has been claimed by the Human Rights Watch.
The soldier has identified one of three newly discovered sites.
As per his statements, he was one of the prisoners who was held in a shipping container in a palace compound in the city before being taken out in a group of 10 at about 5pm – it was there that the men were lined up to be shot with pistols one by one.
In June, the ISIS militants claimed to have executed 1,700 prisoners it said were Shia members of the army. Many of the bodies were dumped in the Tigris River.

The unnerving news from Iraq speaks of the extent of violence in the country where ISIS militants have beheaded US journalist James Foley and captured it on video edition.cnn.com – the video has been posted on YouTube with a warning to US President Barack Obama to stop military operations in Iraq. If he continues to do so, it would be bad for America and there would be more deaths like that of Foley. It seems the ISIS already have a second victim lined up!!
Foley worked with the US based GlobalPost and disappeared on 22 November 2012 in northwest Syria somewhere near the border with Turkey. It seems he was forced into a vehicle by gunmen and has not been heard of since then.
The video is being investigated by the National Security Council to confirm authenticity of the murder of U.S. citizen James Foley by (ISIS). Incidentally, the beheading video shows a second US journalist. The militant in the video, who speaks English with what sounds like a British accent, says the second American's life hangs in the balance, depending on what Obama does next.
It is understood that this second journalist is Steven Sotloff, a contributor to Time and Foreign Policy magazines – he had been kidnapped at the Syria-Turkey border in 2013.
President Obama was briefed about the video, and a spokesman of the White House has indicated that the President would be receiving regular updates on the issue.
The emergence of ISIS has sent shock waves all over the world – it has carried out executions, including beheadings, as part of its effort to establish an Islamic caliphate that stretches from Syria into Iraq. In many cases, ISIS -- which refers to itself as the Islamic State -- has videotaped the executions and posted them online to instill fear into people. They are ruthless as are their methods.
