This is not like events like jallikattu and manjuvirattu where the bulls are let loose into the arena and tamers have to hold on to the humps of the animals for a particular period of time to be declared winners. In vadamadu manjuvirattu, the animal is tied to a pole and the participants have to tame it within a stipulated time.
This has been reported in timesofindia.indiatimes.com dated 29 May 2017.
According to the police, the bull-tamer had tried to hold on to a bull, but it attacked him and he suffered severe injuries to his neck. He was shifted to a nearby hospital but he died without responding to the treatment. The event was conducted by the youth wing of BJP and the party's Tamil Nadu state president took part in the event and distributed prizes to the winners.
